It’s hard to believe that 7 months have passed. I published a book, was fired the following week, and have been breathing, building, and growing in conviction ever since. The power of the realizations I have made since are undeniable. I had effectively muted myself personally to keep the peace at home and work. I had played small to keep from upsetting or frustrating others. I had buried my thoughts, feelings, needs, and desires to ensure the comfort and happiness of everyone else.
I spoke about much of this in my book. What I could never have imagined was the combination of those realizations with the freedom that came with all the loss.
I’ve often heard about losses just being redirections, making room for bigger and better, but I never really sat with the idea. Many friends had asked if I was having a launch party when I published the book, and I’d shrug and say no. As the days, weeks, and months passed, I started to rethink that quiet approach I’d been taking on this journey. Getting fired sucks! To be thrown out with your belongings left on your porch like some trash hurts. The loss of security and provision when you’re the sole breadwinner for you and your son is scary af! The anger that was initially there because these consequences were the literal result of speaking the truth to bullies who didn’t want to hear it could have been all-consuming.
Then I thought, “fuck this shit,” as I said in the first line of my now bestselling book! I did not do all this work on myself and share so deeply to support others to curl up in some humiliated ball and fade away. Over my dead body! So instead, a “Noble Launch” at The Noble House!
A launch of what, you ask?? Of Me!
All of me!
AllieTrimble-Lozano in all my glory! Hot mess express, choo choo mutha-fuckas! A venue and its owner that changed my life, surrounded by women who have supported me at every various stage, and my son there who proclaimed, “That’s My Mama” when I finished speaking. It was a night I will never forget, and it was just the beginning!
Appearances on various podcasts and speaking and presentations at different local events. The website is live. Booking speaking engagements and opening leadership coaching sessions for women navigating corporate America. Being a disruptor in the healthcare landscape to shine a light on the mental health toll taken on its workforce that goes unspoken. Advocating for improvements in the working environment for our healthcare heroes before what I see as the inevitable collapse of the entire system.
The production of an audiobook version of my book is in the works. Yes, it is self-narrated! Local bookstore signing and reading events to come! I’m writing away for Book#2. If you thought one was vulnerable and raw, buckle up for the next one!
For now, I’m enjoying every minute of this chapter of my life, where I report to no one, speak the truth at all costs, and lead by example, demonstrating what can be achieved when women truly support other women!
